KIRAN SAINANI

ARTIST PROFILE

I am a South Asian figurative artist whose paintings express strong emotions and her powerful human forms give life to subjects such as poverty and abuse.  After some years away from creating, I now devote my time to the human form in oil, stone and charcoal.

I have worked and exhibited in Toronto, Paris, New York and Mumbai with renowned artists such as Dhurandhar, Sadequain, Ali Imam, Bashir Mirza and more recently with M.F Hussain, Suhas Roy and Akbar Padamsee.

Ali Imam commented that "Kiran's works have life, not only through what they represent but through her effects and colour vibrations which attempts to make visible her sensitivity and mature handling."

At the core, I believe art is something you find within you, something that moves you; an expression of art is created by your innermost feelings. Welcome to my life in art.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Having experienced both the Eastern culture of India and Western culture of Canada, I have realized the similarities that exist between people. This evolution in my understanding has helped me see that human emotions cross all boundaries; grief, sorrow, joy, pain and suffering are emotions felt by all humans. My art captures these universal human emotions. The prime mover of creativity in all my art is the soul of the figure. The soul guides in creating timeless form.
